Our Family Story
In 1911, Olive “Ollie” Allen settled what would become the Allen Family Ranch. When the Dust Bowl and Great Depression hit, most of the valley lost their land. Ollie refused to let that happen. She trapped and sold pelts through bitter winters to make ends meet. Our family continues to celebrate her fortitude and resilience.
Seven generations later, we are still stewards of the land raising grass-fed, grass-finished cattle on the same stretch of Colorado ground. When families choose our grass-fed beef delivery, they’re stepping into a story of resilience and stewardship.
How We Care For the Land and Animals
We live by what we call the law of the land. You close the gate you open. You watch the movement of the wildlife. You pay attention to what the grass and the weather are telling you because if you forget, the land reminds you.
Our cattle graze on pasture in a rotational system that protects soil and grasses. We work with humane processors who follow Dr. Temple Grandin’s standards to keep animals calm and low-stress. We don’t use hormones. Antibiotics are used only when an animal needs medical care never as routine, never to mask poor conditions.
